San Diego Auto Body Repair FAQs

How can I be sure your auto body repair shop is reputable and professional?

That is an important question! We are proud to be members of the Better Business Bureau since 2001, and we have been given many generous testimonials from our satisfied customers. Our shop and general managers are Platinum Certified by I-Car, the leader in the auto body repair training industry. We are fully insured (more than $1 million dollar policy) to cover your vehicle while it is being repaired, and we are licensed with the state of California. We offer a lifetime warranty on paintwork, we guarantee your satisfaction, and we strive to earn the best compliment you can give us – tell your friends and family about us!

How do you go the extra mile for me?

We save you time and money while offering the highest quality of integrity, workmanship and customer service. We are committed to serving you the BUMPERDOC way: Fast, Friendly, Honest!

How do you match the color of my vehicle?

We can professionally match any color paint for any car, and we make sure to use the same or better grade of paint that was applied to the vehicle in the factory. A color code is taken from your vehicle, and a computerized system helps the technician mix the color to factory specifications.

How much do you charge for an estimate?

We offer free written estimates!

How much do your charge for rental vehicles?

If your insurance coverage does not include a vehicle rental, we are happy to provide you with a free rental vehicle for the duration of your repair! Call for details.

Are your facilities clean and comfortable?

We make clean, attractive facilities a high priority – help yourself to a magazine, some coffee, or a soft drink.

How long will it take to repair my vehicle?

We strive to complete all auto body repairs in just 2 or 3 days! We specialize in minor auto body repairs not involving frame straightening or panel welding, and we begin work on your vehicle immediately, allowing us to give you the results you want quickly. Your plastic bumper damage can be repaired approximately 3 hours, while most paintless dent repair jobs are completed in just 1-2 hours! Please call for time estimates on our additional services.

Is it going to be perfect?

This is a difficult question to answer, as perfect is defined differently by different people. When your vehicle has sustained damage and is repainted, a skilled eye will always be able to tell – even after the best paint job performed by the best technician. We are so confident that you will be happy with your repair that we guarantee your satisfaction, and we can offer you a lifetime warranty because we use the highest quality materials on the market.

Do you take insurance?

Yes! We welcome insurance claims and we are happy to help you with the paperwork.

What should I do if I have been involved in an accident?

State law and the terms of your insurance contract describe the duties you need to perform after you have been in an accident.

First, make sure that everyone is all right, and call for medical help if necessary.

Second, most states require the police to be notified for most accidents.

Third, exchange the following information with the other driver(s) involved: full name, address, telephone number(s), and the name of the insurance company.

If you are filing an insurance claim regarding the accident: Fourth, as soon as possible, notify your insurance agent/company of the accident. Fifth, follow the conditions in your insurance contract that must be satisfied in order to receive compensation form your insurer. Cooperate with your insurance company and perform any required actions during the claims settlement process to ensure that you receive compensation.

Insurance-Related FAQ’s

Do I have to pay a deductible?

When you purchased your policy, you selected the deductible amount for your physical damage coverage. This is the amount you are responsible for if a claim occurs. If you file a claim, your insurer will deduct that amount from the settlement of your claim.

Can I choose my own repair shop if I am filing an insurance claim?

Yes. Provided the repair shop is licensed, your insurer is obligated to try and reach an agreement on price with the shop you choose. If your company cannot reach an agreement, they will provide you with the names of licensed shops who can do the repairs for the price the company has determined.

Can I ask my insurer to recommend a repair shop?

Yes. At your request, your company must recommend a qualified repair facility that is near the vehicle’s location. This facility must be willing to repair the vehicle at the price the company has determined and offer a guarantee of satisfaction. Your insurance company stands behind the repair shop’s guarantee.

Does the insurance company have to use new parts to repair my car?

No. Your insurance contract only obligates the insurance company to restore your vehicle to the same condition it was in before the loss. Sometimes this requires the use of OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts and sometimes after-market parts can be used (parts made by a different manufacturer).

Do I have to accept non-OEM parts?

No, but if your insurer wants to use non-OEM parts, you may have to pay the difference if you decide to use more expensive OEM parts.

What is no-fault insurance?

Under a no-fault policy, those involved in an automobile accident are compensated by their own insurance company, regardless of who caused the accident.

What is the difference between “collision” and “comprehensive” physical damage coverage?

Collision refers to losses incurred from collision with another vehicle or object. Comprehensive refers to losses incurred from other sources, such as hail damage or vandalism. It is important to understand the difference between these two types of coverage when selecting a policy, as coverage and deductible amounts may vary.
